Oklahoma City stands at the crossroads of Western tradition and modern energy. It’s a place where cowboy boots walk into sleek coffee shops, and horse shows take place just a few miles from contemporary art galleries. A good starting point is the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, home to one of the largest collections of Western art and artifacts in the world. Life-sized sculptures, Native American beadwork, and interactive exhibits show how the spirit of the American West still runs through the city’s veins.

Catch an Oklahoma City Thunder game in the heart of Bricktown or visit the Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River for a mix of adventure and relaxation. Visitors can rent kayaks, take a river cruise, or test their nerve on the Sky Trail, an 80-foot-tall adventure course. The area is also home to USA Canoe/Kayak’s Olympic training site, making Oklahoma City one of the few urban centers with a designated rowing and paddling course. At night, LED lights reflect off the river and boathouses, creating a colorful waterfront scene that’s become a local favorite for evening walks and outdoor events.
